Following in Rhett's Footsteps

We ordered the Submarine Ball Pit (a wee bit early for Elliot's first birthday). Dear Pam (Rhett's momma) made the suggestion on her blog. Although Elliot is a little unsure of what to do inside, I do think that he'll fall in love with it (his sissy most certainly has). And, I believe that it may just help with some gross motor skill milestones! It is huge and I will have to move some furniture to accommodate! Thanks Pam - the ball pit is a hit! Check out the video link below!

Wordless Wednesday - Perspective

The advertising tagline of our local Children's Museum is "Quick, before they grow up." I'd say that they have a lot of growing to do. For more on Wordless Wednesday, click here.

Wordless Wednesday - Pretty in Pink?

"I don't think so!" "Why, oh why, am I in sissy's bed? Surrounded by these silly pink sheets?" For more on Wordless Wednesday, click here.

Anesthetized MRI for Possible Venous Malformation…AHHH!

The latest for Elliot: an anesthetized MRI to look for a possible venous malformation. WTH!! I have so had it up to my ears with tests. Seems the physicians are concerned with Elliot’s prominent head veins. And yes, he has been seen by every specialist in the book and this has never been an issue until as of late. It has been said that the estimated incidence of VMs of the brain in the general population is 0.5%, so this is rare and has nothing to do with his Down syndrome. VMs tend to grow proportionately…rather, they grow at the same rate as the child. They also can suddenly expand as the result of clot formation within the VM. A VM within the brain can suddenly bleed. So, needless to say, since the physicians have now “armed” me with said information, I can not sleep at night until the tests are run. Yes, I could have opted out of the procedure (God knows that we are opting out of numerous procedures with my current pregnancy), but for Heaven’s sake, I may just drive myself insane worrying about dear Elliot's vein-stricken head! Prayers for the best, sweet baby boy!

I'm up at last!

We have waited forever and a day for Elliot to get his big ol' head up from a tummy time position, and he's finally done it. Check out my big boy - 10 months old! WTG Wee E!

"To sleep, perchance to dream..."

Focus, of course, not that of Shakespeare... or the meaning behind Hamlet's famous soliloquy. I merely wonder what my dear boy dreams of.

Nora’s escapade.

My younger brother recently wed a wonderful woman in Texas. Nora and Jeff headed to the wedding for Nora’s first experience on a plane, as a flower girl as well as a first look (and dip) at a real beach – the Gulf of Mexico. She was enthralled with all three and quite frankly did not mind having to be frisked at the airport in Dallas. Of all people – does my little sweetie look like a terrorist?

Alas, Wee E and I remained behind. According to my OB, a high risk pregnancy and air travel do not go hand-in-hand.

Where is she?

Wee E's first words were "ma ma" about two months ago. Now, it is all that he says and hollers for me as soon as I am out of sight! Really, I could not ask for more!
