Anesthetized MRI for Possible Venous Malformation…AHHH!

The latest for Elliot: an anesthetized MRI to look for a possible venous malformation. WTH!! I have so had it up to my ears with tests. Seems the physicians are concerned with Elliot’s prominent head veins. And yes, he has been seen by every specialist in the book and this has never been an issue until as of late. It has been said that the estimated incidence of VMs of the brain in the general population is 0.5%, so this is rare and has nothing to do with his Down syndrome. VMs tend to grow proportionately…rather, they grow at the same rate as the child. They also can suddenly expand as the result of clot formation within the VM. A VM within the brain can suddenly bleed. So, needless to say, since the physicians have now “armed” me with said information, I can not sleep at night until the tests are run. Yes, I could have opted out of the procedure (God knows that we are opting out of numerous procedures with my current pregnancy), but for Heaven’s sake, I may just drive myself insane worrying about dear Elliot's vein-stricken head! Prayers for the best, sweet baby boy!

I share your exhaustion with tests and doctors (and therapists--might as well them in too!). I hope that all goes well with E's test and that you will be able to rest easy soon.

Oh....Very frustrating indeed! I hope you can get the tests done as soon as possible! I also hope that you can at least sleep a little bit until you find out the results! :)

We'll be praying for you guys too!

Parker has his sedated MRI next Monday. When is E's?

Tammy, we are waiting to schedule until the darn pulm can do another bronch at the same time (hopefully, yet in June). Good times. If E is going under, I want them to look at everything that needs to be looked at all at once. No need to anesthetize multiple times.

Prayers again for dear Parker!! We're thinking of him all of the time!
