Dear Melissa at Banana Migraine passed this award on to me. I’m honored, sweetie. I pass it on to two lovely ladies: Nicole at All4MyGals and Pam at Rhett’s Journey. Both of these women exemplify true inner beauty.

Hippy no more.

Well, I did it. I took Elliot in for his first hair cut. Although I love long hair on baby boys, I just could not bear to watch him as it hung in his eyes, got mixed up with slobber and Pediasure and was a matted mess of dread locks every morning.

The dear gal who cuts my mop did it. Elliot was the life of the place (a nice, nice salon, mind you). He behaved quite well. And, while it is still shaggy, my Wee E can see. Gotta love it!

Do note that Nora has yet to have her hair cut and yes, I did save some of Elliot’s beloved locks…

Initial Grade School Carnival

It was a hit. Nora had a blast and my parents sat with the boys. Nora was so coordinated. She won all sorts of trinkets with her mechanical ability. Her luck ran out, however, when it came to the cake (I mean “candy bar/candy box”) walk. We tried EIGHT times to win. I even joined in – only momma out there I must add. We so wanted that box of Hot Tamales. Maybe next year.

I, unlike dear Nora, have zero mechanical ability. I was always the one to win the cake though. I remember, with fondness, walking home with it (such a beloved prize) each and every year. It was a poignant moment when I saw that they have done away with the homemade cakes and replaced them with movie box-style candy. I suppose people can no longer be trusted.

I was happy also to be able to meet a dear woman whose angel of a daughter with Down syndrome attends the school. I see her walking out daily when I pick Nora up. She is 11 and in the 4th grade. What a lovely child. Her mom was equally as lovely and raising two children on her own. I was glad that I finally got to meet her as I admire her sweetie daily.

Nora posed with me a few times unwillingly. I kept hearing, “Your hair is in my face,” MOM!” Too funny. Such a mop I am sporting lately.

So, some photos from our event are above. A happy time was had by all.

Just a few words and minor updates...

Again, a major lack of blogging, but again, we've dealt with illness for nearly a month. The dreaded tummy flu bug hit us so very hard. Poor Elliot had it for over a week. He seemed better for a short while, but then, more vomit and other issues. I do think he was enduring an ear infection on top of it all, but finally, as the climate improves and the flowers bloom, he is becoming more chipper.

Isaac has started solids and eats like a master pig. Never have I seen a babe more interested in food. He leaned in for the spoon with each and every bite with the first go around. What a wee little porker.

Elliot is going for my wine cooler in one of the photos above. He knows me all too well. One of these days it will be filled with something better than Yellow Tail.

Nora is still sucking her thumb in another shot. I have to say that I don’t mind as it keeps her “littler” for a bit. When awake, however, it is another story. I hear “I hate that shirt” or “Don’t touch my hair” or "I'm watching my shows; turn your Food Network off" all too often. I will REALLY be in for it in just a few short years I'm afraid. I'm certain that Mom and Dad are smirking to themselves all the while as they say, under their breath, of course, that "Payback is a bit#%, Michelle!"

Elliot is in love with Nora’s old “FurReal” bear that hugs. I caught him hugging the little creature profusely the other day. Elliot is SUCH a lover.

Needless to say, I am pleased as punch that spring is upon us in Nebraska. I so love to walk outside with the kiddos. Nothing better than a spring breeze, blue skies and my three perfect children enjoying what God has blessed us with.

Tonsils, tubes, adenoids are next.

Poor Elliot. On top of the flu, his tonsils are so swollen that we may be headed to the ENT this week as they seem to be obstructing his breathing (not good on top of the malacia). Doc pedi did a strep test. No strep. But, she did mention that he has fluid on his eardrum, his tonsils the size of mine and the adenoids need to go too. Damn. I thought that maybe…just maybe, we’d flee from all of that.

Wrong.

We will schedule after yet another trip to Children’s in Omaha to consult with yet another specialist. First, he must completely heal from the spinal surgery. Second, we must get through the school season as I simply cannot get Nora to and from school, dragging dear Elliot in a post-operative state with Sir Isaac to tend to as well. Third, I may be completely gray when it is all said and done. Just in time for my TWENTY-year high school reunion in June! La la la!

...and MORE

Elliot is sick. Enough said. We are headed to the pedi in an hour.

Vomit and more vomit...

Last week, Nora; this week, Isaac (actually just today for him). I can honestly say that I forgot just how horrendous it is to witness violent screaming and projectile vomit simultaneously. Poor baby. I thought, after Nora spent the majority of her illness at Grandma’s, so as not to infect the boys, that the boys would have escaped the dreaded bug. Alas, I was wrong. Prayers for a speedy recovery and additional prayers that Wee E doesn’t get hit as hard as Isaac has. Me? I WILL NOT GET THE FLU!!!

Above mentioned explains my lack of blog posts.
